Queens Athletics Club

Queen’s Athletics consists of two clubs – Queen’s University Harriers Club and Queen’s University Athletics Club. The two are very closely related, but remain as separate clubs. Both are student clubs, run for students, by other students. This ensures that the individual needs of each athlete are more likely to be reached by fellow students.

The Harriers Club is a running club dealing with road running, cross country, recreational jogging and longer distances. It caters for both male and female athletes of all standards. The club has always been highly successful in the competitions it enters throughout the year, primarily the IUAA Road Relay Championships and the IUAA Cross Country Championships. It also enters the Belfast Marathon Relays in May, amongst others, which proves to be a lot of fun. See Training and Facilities section for training times, and further details.

The Athletics Club is the Track and Field Athletics Club. It deals purely with the training and competitions for all the various running, jumping and throwing events. There are two main competitions during the year, the IUAA Indoor and Outdoor Athletics Championships. Next year sees the introduction of more fixtures on to the calendar and we are keen for many new members to make up the places for those teams. Our home track is the Mary Peters Track, details about it and training times can be seen later in Training and Facilities section.
